ICWA has always been more than just a gym. In addition to weightlifting, strength training/conditioning and CrossFit, we offer a wide array of sports medicine modalities—including Postural Restoration. We are the only facility in the greater Albuquerque area with a Postural Restoration Trained™(PRT) professional on staff to help you achieve pain relief and improved performance.
Understanding Postural Restoration
Postural Restoration is a branch of physical/exercise therapy that strives to correct imbalances in postural alignment. The PR philosophy holds that imbalances arise through overuse of one side of the body. The compensatory mechanics that result are the underlying cause of many types of chronic pain and performance plateaus.
Unlike chiropractic or massage therapy that directly manipulate hard and soft tissues, PR combines movement—active and passive techniques—and conscious breathing mechanics to retrain your neuro-muscular pathways and restore balance to both sides of the body. PR is completely non-invasive but has dramatic effects, allowing some individuals to avoid surgery or pain-block injections.
The founder of Postural Restoration, Ron Hruska, also developed the Postural Restoration Institute® (PRI), which certifies therapists in PR treatment. Our trainer is currently completing the certification process, which will make ICWA the only place in Albuquerque to have Postural Restoration TrainedTM (PRT) trainer on staff!

What to Expect from Postural Restoration
PR typically requires between two and fifteen sessions, and certified therapists provide at-home exercises to continue treatment between visits. Most athletes experience improvement after the first session.
Is Postural Restoration Right to Treat and Correct Your Form?
Our PRT professional can assess your body and gait to determine if asymmetrical patterns exist that PR can effectively correct. If you are a good candidate for PR, you can then establish a treatment schedule with our trainer.
